🀝 RECS

Terms of Service

Effective date: August 1, 2026

Recs (recs.travel, the β€œService”) is operated by Product Tonic LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (β€œwe,” β€œus”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Recs.

1. What Recs is

Recs lets you create personal travel recommendations, share them privately with people you choose, ask friends for their recommendations, and organize what you receive into trips. The core service is free. An optional paid subscription (β€œRecs Pro”) unlocks additional features, currently unlimited trips.

2. Your account

You need a valid email address to sign in. You're responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use Recs. You can delete your account at any time from your Profile; deletion removes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Recs Pro subscription & automatic renewal

Recs Pro costs $49 per year. Promotional codes may reduce the first year's price; unless stated otherwise, discounts apply to the first billing period only and the subscription renews at the then-current standard price.

Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically every 12 months, and your payment method is charged at the start of each renewal period, until you cancel. We'll send a reminder before each annual renewal.

How to cancel: anytime via Profile β†’ Recs Pro β†’ Manage (Stripe billing portal), or by emailing hello@recs.travel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro until then. Payments are processed by Stripe β€” we never see or store your card number.

Price changes apply only to future renewal periods and we'll notify you by email at least 30 days in advance, with the option to cancel first.

4. Refunds

If Recs Pro isn't for you, email hello@recs.travel within 14 days of your first purchase for a full refund, no questions asked. For EU/EEA consumers this also satisfies your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Renewal charges are refundable within 14 days of the renewal date if you haven't used Pro features in the new period. Nothing in these Terms limits refund rights you have under applicable law.

5. Your content

Your recs, notes, and photos remain yours. So we can operate the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and share your content with the people you direct it to β€” the recipients of your share links, the friends who receive your answers to their asks, and viewers of public share pages you create. Recs has no public feed; your content is not shown to strangers unless you create a public share link yourself.

Don't post content that is unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or that you don't have the right to share. We may remove content that violates these Terms. Copyright or content complaints: hello@recs.travel β€” we respond promptly to takedown requests.

6. Honest recommendations

Recs is built on genuine peer recommendations. Accepting payment or undisclosed incentives from venues in exchange for posting recommendations is prohibited and grounds for removal.

7. Acceptable use

No scraping, bulk data collection, impersonation, or spam. Share and ask links are for people you actually know β€” mass distribution for commercial purposes isn't allowed. Don't attempt to probe, disable, or overload the Service.

8. Recommendations are opinions

A rec is a personal opinion, not a guarantee. Venues change owners, chefs, and quality; details (hours, photos, locations) come from Google and may be outdated. Bookings and visits are solely between you and the venue. We are not responsible for your experience at any recommended place.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided β€œas is” and β€œas available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, and our total liability for any claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $49 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions (including EU member states) don't allow certain limitations β€” where that's the case, these limits apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or non-waivable statutory consumer rights.

10. Changes to the Service or these Terms

Recs is in active development; features may change. If we materially change these Terms, we'll notify you by email or in-app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

11. Termination

You can stop using Recs or delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms; if we terminate a paid account without cause, we'll refund the unused portion of your subscription pro rata.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or California, you additionally keep all protections of the mandatory consumer laws of your place of residence, and you may bring claims in your local courts where the law provides for it.
